Hello and welcome to Detecting With Carper! Thank you for taking the time to visit and I hope you enjoy looking through some of the remarkable finds I have been lucky enough to make.
Henry III Penny Voided Long Cross
Metal Detecting is such a fascinating and rewarding hobby in so many ways. The huge thrill for me is the fact that I have the chance of being the first person in up to 2000 years to see and hold an object that has been buried in the ground for all those years. There is great satisfaction when I know I have saved another coin or artefact from farm machinery or chemicals and can preserve and record the item so many future generations can see its beauty for years to come.
You can click on the tab 'Finds Gallery' at the top of the page and browse through the finds that I have made. I will also try and provide as much info as I can on each find pictured.
There is also a 'links' page where you can find loads of useful websites dedicated to the wonderful hobby of metal detecting.
I try to find out as much information I can on each find I make. The research is one aspect that I really enjoy about this hobby. You can learn so much about a time or place or even an item just by taking a bit of time researching.
With each find I make, whether it's a coin or artefact, I will update the 'Featured Find' page with an in-depth description of what the item is.
You can also click on the 'Dig's Journal'. This is where I write a small report about my day out in the field, whether I am out on my own permission or on a club dig
